AI Architect
Design autonomous agents that survive contact with production.
You will design the agentic systems we ship. That means architecture — memory, tool-use, planning, evaluation, guardrails, observability — plus hands-on coding when it matters. You will be the person we trust to say "this will work in production" and to explain why. You will work directly with our Chief Scientist on the research side and with clients on the production side.
What you'll own
- The architecture of every Skygena agent we ship: memory, tools, planning, guardrails, evaluation
- Reviewing every production release against a hard evaluation harness
- Designing and operating the shared Skygena agent runtime
- Translating Skygena Labs research into production-grade systems
- Mentoring the engineering bench and codifying our engineering standards
- Participating in client technical deep-dives (the CTO in the room)
- Owning our stance on "should we build or should we buy" on frameworks and tools
Who we're looking for
- 8+ years as a senior/staff engineer shipping production software
- 2+ years shipping LLM-based systems to real users — not demos
- Strong foundation in distributed systems, software design and evaluation
- Hands-on with modern agent building blocks: retrieval, tool-use, planning, prompt engineering, evaluation harnesses
- Python and TypeScript fluency; comfort with containerised deployment
- Opinionated taste about when a framework helps and when it gets in the way
- Ability to explain architecture to a CFO without dumbing it down
Nice to have
- Prior experience with vector search, semantic layers, or knowledge-grounded agents
- Applied research background (publications, open-source contributions)
- Experience with voice-capable agents or multimodal pipelines
- EU AI Act readiness work in a regulated client context
